A new online program launched by the University of South Carolina’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management offers working professionals and industry employers a chance to develop their expertise in meetings, events, and incentive travel.
The Certificate Program in Meetings, Events and Incentive Travel (MEI) is a six-month online course providing continuing education in the areas of meeting, events and incentive travel, marketing and communication, financial management and current issues of these industries.
Students will take two subjects in each of two eight-week sessions, and then conclude their studies with the MEI practicum.
The courses are MEI Fundamentals, MEI Marketing and Communication, MEI Financial Management and Current Issues in MEI.
The 40-hour practicum is designed to give students work experience in the MEI Industry. Since students will come into the program with a variety of backgrounds, instructors will work with each individual student to tailor the practicum to their needs.
The MEI program is supported and endorsed by The Incentive Research Foundation (IRF), a nonprofit that funds research studies and develops education serving all segments of the global incentive and recognition industry.
An associate degree and two years of industry experience is required for admission to the program.
The MEI program is scheduled to begin April 2, 2018. Information on pricing and the application process is available at the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management website.
