The Town of Chapin will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 3, beginning with a reception in the Community Room at Chapin Town Hall (157 NW Columbia Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036).
There will be holiday music, caroling by the children’s choir from Chapin United Methodist Church, hot chocolate and cookies, and a reading of the holiday classic A Visit from St. Nicholas, more commonly known as “Twas the Night before Christmas.” Then everyone will go outside to enjoy the lighting of the town’s official Christmas tree at approximately 5:15 pm.
“The Christmas tree lighting has become one of my favorite events at Town Hall. We have people of all ages come out and enjoy a little holiday music and refreshments,” said Chapin Mayor Skip Wilson. “Town Hall is festively decorated, and we are grateful to our friends at Publix for providing the cookies and hot cocoa for our guests to enjoy. And you never know… Santa Claus might join us for a special appearance on the old fire truck.”
Residents are also welcome to assist the Justin Pepper Foundation’s annual toy drive by bringing toys or gift cards for a deserving child in need or a canned good for Chapin’s We Care Center. “Chapin is a very generous community, and the holidays are a perfect time to count our blessings and reach out to help those who may not feel as fortunate,” Wilson added.
