Columbia, S.C. (February 8, 2016) — Terra, which specializes in Chef Mike Davis’s seasonal preparation of Southern dishes using local products whenever possible at 100 State Street in West Columbia, announces that James Alford has joined the restaurant’s staff as general manager.
“We’re excited to welcome James to the restaurant,” said Chef Mike Davis, owner of Terra. “Our customers, who have high expectations, will appreciate his attention to detail and enjoy getting to know him.”
Alford is no stranger to the Columbia food and beverage scene. He previously held positions at Motor Supply Co. Bistro, Grassroots Wine Wholesalers and most recently served as wine buyer at Morganelli’s Party Store. Alford will be responsible for managing the front-of-house staff during service, handling reservations for diners and the restaurant’s private dining room as well as managing Terra’s beverage inventory and more. He graduated from Columbia International University and attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina.
“My sensibilities regarding wine overlap with Chef’s sensibilities about food,” said Alford. “The chance to work together is exciting. And I’m happy plugging into the kind of energy that this restaurant exudes.”
