Sustainability Events Near You

Feb 25th: Food Recovery Resource Exchange at Department of Commerce Suite 1600 in the Palmetto Room at 1201 Main Street in Columbia; This stakeholders meeting is designed to explore opportunities for the recovery of food waste generated at businesses throughout South Carolina and learn about recycling and food waste diversion in the food recovery industry. Who should attend? Food banks, food pantries, food rescue partners, sustainable chefs, food distributers, composters, and others interested. The SC Department of Commerce invites you to bring an ally and join the conversation.  Lunch will be provided.  Please let us know if you have special dietary needs by emailing alange@sccommerce.com.


April 12th: Join the Sustainable Midlands Food Alliance for their quarterly POTLUCK meeting 6-8pm on Tuesday, April 12th upstairs at 701 Whaley. We’ll share about the upcoming Midlands Farm Tour, eat some great food, and discuss how we can incorporate food systems planning into county and municipal plans. May 5th: Clemson’s New and Beginning Farmer Program’s Resource Rodeo is open to all SC farmers and those interested in learning about farm resources in SC. Hear from local, state, and federal organizations who work with farmers and visit with representatives from these groups. The Resource Rodeo will be held Thursday, May 5, 2015 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at the Phillips Market Center (3501 Charleston Highway in West Columbia, SC 29172). Cost is $20.00 and includes lunch. May 21st: The Sustainable Midlands Food Alliance and twelve farm sites in Lexington and Richland counties are holding the Midlands Farm Tour on May 21st, 2016. Ticket site and volunteer opportunities coming soon.
