Springdale Police Department Announces Self Defense Classes & Seminar

SPRINGDALE, SC – The Springdale Police Department is excited to announce that they will be hosting a women’s self-defense class and seminar. The class will be at BodyQuest Fitness on Saturday, March 7 from 2-4pm.

This self-defense seminar will be held as a part of a crime prevention program that uses techniques that are specifically designed for women to reduce the likelihood of victimization and as a part of the Springdale Police Department’s S.A.F.E (Self-Defense and Female Empowerment) campaign.

“Our job is to keep our citizens safe and help our community feel empowered,” stated Springdale Chief of Police, Kevin Cornett. “The first in the series of classes is full; however, we look forward to making this a regular thing for our citizens and hope people will stop by to learn more.”

The class is free of charge and geared toward women without prior self-defense training. The minimum age to participate is 18 years old, or 16 & 17 years old with the consent of a parent.

The 2-hour class will be held at BodyQuest on 2927 Platt Springs Rd. on March 7 from 2-4pm. For more information, please contact Kaitlin Timmerman with the Springfield Police Department at 803-796-3160 or Ktimmerman@springdalesc.com.
