Aubrey Delk, a rising senior at Spring Valley High School, earned a place on the South Carolina National High School Rodeo Team, and will compete in barrel racing at the 68th annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) from July 17-23 in Gillette, Wyoming.

The NHSFR bills itself as the world’s largest rodeo, and features more than 1,650 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. Aubrey and her horse, Spider-Man, will work to land a place in the top 20 in the first two rounds of barrel racing. Success would mean a place in the finals Saturday and a chance at a World Champion title and a portion of the $200,000 in prizes and $350,000 in college scholarships on the line this week.

Aubrey is an honor student at Spring Valley and plans to go to college after graduation and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

You can follow Aubrey’s progress and watch live streaming of all the NHSFR events online.
