Soda City Suds Week returns for a third year from March 18–26, 2017 at a variety of venues throughout the greater Columbia and Lexington areas, and beyond.
Soda City Suds Week is an independently run week of events celebrating craft beer and the businesses that make this industry thrive. Aimed at promoting a range of businesses and breweries in in the Midlands, Suds Week events aren’t just pint nights or kick the keg evenings; participating business are encouraged to be creative and have fun with their events and show what makes them unique. A few key events include a tongue-puckering evening of sour beer and food pairings at the Main St. staple The Whig, a colonial-era history lesson on tavern life in North America with Historic Camden, a first look tour of the new Hunter-Gatherer brewhouse, and a mountain bike ride through Harbison State Forest. The week culminates with Cream of the Crop, an all-day, all-Southern craft beer outdoor suds fest at City Roots Farm.
Over 25 events are planned, each one one focusing on the art and appreciation of craft beer in the Midlands of South Carolina. “We are amazed at how robust the craft beer scene has gotten even since last year’s events. It’s a real treat to see these local businesses starting from the ground up and succeeding,” s ays April Blake, president of the Midlands Craft Beer Supporters, the local non-profit that plans and executes Soda City Suds Week each year.
Soda City Suds Week was created to help celebrate the Midland’s burgeoning craft beer scene and the businesses that work hard to promote the city and state’s beer culture, and to educate the public about an industry that is growing rapidly both locally and nationally.
While independently run, sponsorship for Soda City Suds Week is provided by Comer Distributing, Inc. Additional sponsorship is provided by The Whig, Green’s Beverage Warehouse, and many more generous local sponsors. Visit www.sodacitysudsweek.com for more information and the full event lineup.
