Sidewalk Art Show earns Gilbert Middle first place

GILBERT, S.C. — Gilbert Middle School won multiple awards from the South Carolina Association of Student Councils during the annual convention.

Represented by officers Emely Aguilera Garcia, Doc R. Cooper, Ellie C. Harman, Blain C. McFarland and Paola Vera Gonzalez, Gilbert Middle’s Student Council received first place in Fundraising Project for the Sidewalk Art Show.

Additionally, GMS won second place in Middle School Service for planning “Muffins for Mom” and “Donuts for Dads” events, third place in Middle School Community Service for donating money to Happy Wheels and earned Honor Council status.

In recognition of his teamwork and enthusiasm for GMS and student council activities, McFarland received an invitation to join the SCASC Terry A. McCoy Leadership Hall of Fame.
