MPA Strategies is delighted to announce the addition of Ed Schafer as the new Legislative Counsel. With over 13 years of government affairs experience and over 10 years working with local government entities, Ed has worked as Staff Attorney & Lobbyist for the South Carolina Association of Counties, Legislative Counsel to the Municipal Association of South Carolina and General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs for the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina. In his new role, Ed will serve as the Lobbyist, Legislative Consultant and General Legal Counsel for MPA clients.
Schafer graduated Cum Laude from the Honors Program at The Citadel and was a 1996 Summerall Guard. He is a lifelong Gamecock and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He resides in Lexington County with his wife, two children and Chinese exchange student. They attend Cayce United Methodist Church where he currently serves as Chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. He enjoys spending time with his family, his Boykin Spaniels and German Shepherd, Edisto Beach, kayaking, deep sea fishing, snow skiing, reading, running, yoga and singing in the choir at church.
