Sensory Friendly Day, Today, February 8
Today is Sensory Friendly Day at the State Museum. Visitors with special needs will be able to enjoy a less crowded environment, designated quiet areas, light and sound reduction when possible, and extra staff and volunteers in the exhibits. Regular museum admission & regular show admission required. South Carolina students and teachers receive free admission if pre-registered with their school. Last Chance to Experience the Musicians and Songwriters Guild of SC Live during Second Shift Twosday, and Laser Beatles, Feb. 9
Jeff Liberty of the Musicians and Songwriters Guild of South Carolina will be performing live one last time inside the Carolina Makers art exhibition in the Lipscomb Gallery from 6 – 8 p.m. Also, experience Laser Beatles: Across the Universe in the South Carolina State Museum’s BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium during Second Shift Twosday at 7 p.m., only during the month of February.
The entire museum is always open during Second Shift Twosdays, which takes place every Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. Visit scmuseum.org to learn more.
Kick-off Valentine’s Day weekend with “That’s Amore Y’all”, Friday, Feb. 12
Spend the evening with the State Museum February 12, from 6 – 9 p.m. Guests will be able to take tours through the museum galleries, enjoy special Cosmic Love Stories in the planetarium, and get an up close look at the stars in the observatory. All featuring sweet treats from Evolution Through Chocolate, savory bites, local craft beer, wine and more*. Admission is $15 for public and $12 for museum members. State Museum Open on President’s Day
The South Carolina State Museum will be open on President’s Day (Monday, Feb., 16) from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. There is something fun and exciting for guest of all ages at the State Museum, including a variety of planetarium and 4D shows, solar viewing in the observatory and four floors of permanent and changing exhibits.
