BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – October 13, 2016 –In an effort to better serve citizens affected by flooding from Hurricane Matthew, the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will be operating its Community Area Response & Emergency Services (CARES) vehicle in Marion County from Thursday, October 13, 2016 until further notice.
The CARES vehicle will be at the parking lot of the old Anvil Textile plant in Mullins. The plant is located on Cypress Street off of Highway 76. It will be staffed and ready to serve customers from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 14. We’ll continue to be in Marion County until there’s no longer a need.
“Serving those most adversely impacted by the disaster is our #1 priority. We’re providing an immediate capability to better serve our customers most impacted by the storm,” said Executive Director Kevin Shwedo. “Our CARES vehicle serves as a supplement to areas that are lacking basic services. It provides a convenient way to quickly get driver’s licenses, identification cards, car titles, and/or vehicle registrations to make filing an insurance claim easier.”
Our CARES vehicle is designed to help the agency provide uninterrupted customer care for areas or constituents in need. It will not offer road tests or serve commercial or international customers.
We’re continuing to support the South Carolina Department of Insurance’s (DOI) Catastrophe Claims Center at area Home Depots. The DOI will open a new site at 3051 W. Radio Dr., Florence, South Carolina 29501. It will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18.
Due to power outages, the DMV purchased generators in order to provide service and limited transactions like the ones listed above at various offices across the state. The Conway office has been without power for four days and is working on generated power. It cannot complete knowledge or road tests at this time. If you’re interested in completing a knowledge or road test, you’re encouraged to visit our Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach Market Common or North Myrtle Beach location.
If there’s not an immediate requirement to obtain a replacement identification card, driver’s license, car title, and/or vehicle registration, we recommend using our online services at www.SCDMVonline.com. Customers will typically receive their replacements in 2-3 business days. You will find information on the required documentation needed to complete transactions online as well.
