Wanting to remove some of the barriers that may prevent you and your family from coming through our doors, Richland Library is waiving all teen fines as of September 1.
It means books, CDs and DVDs that are considered part of the teen collection will no longer be subject to overdue late fees. However, we still want to encourage customers to renew items as they normally would, and of course, return materials to the library that is most convenient for them.
This measure follows the implementation of a policy to remove fines on children’s materials in January 2015 that has been well-received by customers and staff.
“Many of the teens whom I work with do not have reliable access to transportation, and returning items on time can be difficult,” said Richland Library Teen Services Manager Jennifer Naimzadeh. “This will benefit not only these customers but also their families, teachers and anyone else with a love of teen fiction.”
Late fees still apply to adult materials, remaining 20 cents per day that an item is overdue.
