Richland Library hosts free holiday events with jazz, crafts, and chamber orchestra

The Richland Library system is celebrating the holidays in a big way in multiple locations.

Jazz fans are encouraged to attend ‘Tis the Season to Be Jazzy from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. December 5 at Richland Library Ballentine. Celebrate the season with local jazz vocalist and poet EboniRamm, accompanied by an ensemble swinging with the sounds of notable holiday jazz songs.

Lovers of arts and crafts will enjoy shopping for holiday gifts at the Craft Fair, presented by Blythewood Teen Advisory Board, which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon December 16 at Richland Library Blythewood. Fun for all ages, there will be several different stations to make holiday ornaments, origami and other crafty activities.

The holidays will culminate in a fun, festive and free live concert with “Columbia Celebrates featuring Palmetto Chamber Orchestra.” Local musicians will come together to share their music-making passion with our community. Enjoy music from classical to jazz, including these timeless gems like Corelli’s “Christmas” Concerto Grosso, Vivaldi’s Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and String Orchestra, Rosetti. Romance from Clarinet Concert, and Ligon. Cascade and more.  Guest artists include local talent: Buddy Fiorillo, Violin; Idris Chandler, Cello; Betty Gardiner, Flute; Amy Craighead, Flute; William Campbell, English Horn; Robert Gardiner, Saxophone and his Jazz quartet.
