PELION — It was no April Fools’ Day joke. Students from Pelion High School cleaned more than two miles of a local road on April 1, giving up part of their Saturday.

Cadets from the PHS Junior ROTC teamed up with members of the PHS Beta Club to volunteer for the Adopt-A-Highway program.

A total of 27 students picked up trash along a 2.2-mile stretch of Highway 302 in Pelion. Working together, they filled up 10 large trash bags with litter.
