PHS cadets volunteer at Harvest Hope

PELION, S.C. — Cadets from Pelion High went above and beyond when meeting an immediate need at a local food bank. 

During a recent junior ROTC service learning project, cadets volunteered at Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia. Before they arrived, the food bank did not have any boxes with food ready for distribution and needed to get 800 boxes packed. Working together, PHS cadets packaged more than 1,050 boxes for those in need. 

The employees at Harvest Hope Food Bank were very grateful and impressed with the PHS students, who exceeded their expectations with the diligence, teamwork, and efficiency. 

The boxes will be distributed throughout the surrounding communities, including Pelion.
