Palmetto Health Foundation Releases 2017 Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon Finisher’s Medal Design

What do you get as a reward for running 13.1 miles? On Oct. 14 in Columbia, in addition to the satisfaction of finishing, you could get the knowledge that you’ve helped a good cause and a medal designed for the occasion.

Palmetto Health Foundation on Tuesday revealed the design of the 2017 Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon finisher’s medal.

The medal, a symbol of our community’s commitment to kick breast cancer to the curb, is a breast cancer ribbon cast in metal and finished with “famously” hot pink enamel. The medal pays tribute to the vibrant, beautiful capital city of South Carolina, home of Walk for Life for the past 27 years. There’s also a bonus feature on the medal which half marathon runners can discover when they cross the finish line Oct. 14.

Spirit Communications Park will host the 27th Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon, 5K and 10K.  Proceeds from the events will benefit Palmetto Health Breast Center, specifically to help fund a seventh 3D digital mammography unit and support materials for patients and families. More information is available at WalkForLifeColumbia.org.
