Columbia, SC, August 19, 2016— The City of Columbia Office of Business Opportunities (OBO) has teamed up with Columbia native Kevin Felder (aka recording artist “Big Redd”) to launch The Indie Ground, a seminar series for independent artists to learn the business side of the music industry. The Indie Ground has assembled the very best in music industry professionals–from label executives, to entertainment attorneys, to media personalities–to help indie artists not only excel as musicians, but also excel as music entrepreneurs.
Thanks to this partnership with OBO and the support of local businesses, The Indie Ground seminar series is free. The launch event—entitled “Can I Get Some Love On The Radio”—is a panel discussion on best strategies for gaining radio airplay for music. Panelists include Sloane Spencer of the nationally-syndicated radio show Country Fried Rock; Tony Gee, program director of WFMV 95.3 FM; and South Carolina hip-hop pioneer Fat Rat da Czar.
The Indie Ground will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at SOCO-The Columbia Cowork, 823 Gervais Street in The Vista. There are 60 registration slots available, and registration is required. Interested music artists and their teams may learn more and register at theindieground.splashthat.com.
