My Carolina Alumni Association Announces Homecoming Plans

My Carolina Alumni Association has released the full list of events for this year’s Homecoming celebration. This Homecoming will feature live music, a celebration at Foundation Square, Carolina tailgate, a new seminar series and much more. Events start Thursday, Nov. 3 and end Saturday, Nov. 5.

“This marks our second Homecoming in our new Alumni Center, and we are glad to bring this tradition back to Carolina with new and exciting events,” said Jack Claypoole, Executive Director of My Carolina Alumni Association. “It is wonderful to be part of this three-day celebration where Gamecocks come back to cherish old memories and make new ones with us.”

A notable event this year is the Carolina Block Party at Foundation Square on the corner of Greene Street and Lincoln Street. This event starts Friday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The band, Simply Irresistible, will be bringing a high energy party with live music from the ‘60s to today. Food trucks will be on hand to satisfy every possible craving. The night will include a fireworks show that is sure to light up the Carolina sky. Afterwards, the celebration will continue with the Black Alumni Council Homecoming Party in the Alumni Center Ballroom from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. (registration required).

A forum will be held Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Center Ballroom where people can learn from this year’s alumni award recipients as they discuss topics such as their time at Carolina and how to lead in life and career. Homecoming festivities will end with a tailgate three hours before kickoff at Gamecock Park. This event will feature music, food, and beverages before the Gamecocks take on the Missouri Tigers.
