Midlands Technical College receives $30,000 grant From Haas Foundation for student scholarships

Midlands Technical College received a $30,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation to award tuition free-scholarships for MTC’s Corporate and Continuing Education Machinist – Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Certificate Program. The Gene Haas Foundation awards scholarship funds to colleges for students entering CNC Machining training programs.

MTC’s Machinist – CNC Certificate Program consists of six courses beginning in August 2016 and ending June 2017.  Classes are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Students can attend in the morning, afternoon or evening.  CNC operation and CNC Programming based training on actual CNC machines are covered in the certificate program.

Upon completion students will be qualified to work as CNC Operators in manufacturing facilities. CNC Operators operate automated metalworking equipment used in the production of machined components. Average starting wage for a CNC operator is between $15 and $19 an hour.
