Tim Nelson, Midlands Technical College’s Associate Vice President for Advancement and CEO of the Midlands Technical College Foundation, has been elected to the board of the Council for Resource Development. This national organization supports and equips advancement professionals to succeed in fundraising and develop philanthropic resources.
“I am honored that I have been elected to represent Midlands Technical College before this important industry group,” said Nelson. “This nomination is a direct reflection of the college’s Advancement team and all the achievements we’ve had to date.”
Since Nelson took over the college’s fundraising efforts two years ago, revenue to the MTC Foundation has increased from $457,000 to nearly $1,900,000. During this time Nelson also built a robust Advancement program with a major gifts program, donor relations, planned giving, alumni affairs and prospect research.
The Midlands Technical College Foundation provides the structure through which individuals, corporations and other private sector interests can demonstrate their financial support for the academic programs and economic development services offered by Midlands Technical College.
Nelson previously served as Chief Development Officer for the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech and as Executive Director of Development at Regent University.
