Midlands Chefs to Face Off for Best Shrimp and Grits Crown

Shrimp and grits is a Southern staple, and near the top of the list of favorite dishes for many. The big question is who makes the best, and an upcoming competition will attempt to answer that for the Midlands while supporting a good cause.

On Saturday, June 18th, area restaurants will compete in Columbia’s first Shrimp & Grits Fest. A panel of judges including Marcus Lattimore, Corey and Ramone of 2 Fat 2 Fly Wings, Soda City founder Emile DeFelice and the Colatown Foodie will choose the winner of the Columbia’s Best Shrimp & Grits award.shrimp and grits

Attendees will have a chance to enjoy unlimited samples of the offerings and vote for a People’s Choice award. The event, organized by Columbia Food Tours, will also include live music, dancing, a photo booth, door prizes, and the opportunity to meet Marcus Lattimore.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Marcus Lattimore Foundation. Tickets are $50 each and must be purchased online prior to the event. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
