Midlands Anchor has had some big developments in the regional media scene with the full time commitment of CEO Tia Williams and the recent roll out of a regional board of advisors. The Midlands Anchor also announced the launch of an Events Page late last year. Now, just shy of the Anchor’s five year anniversary, the publication has hired an Assistant Publisher & Events Manager, Allison Willingham.
Willingham moved to Columbia in 2012 after completing a bachelor’s degree at Kentucky Wesleyan College and a master’s degree at Eastern Kentucky University. During her time in Columbia, she has been an active volunteer and advocate for several nonprofits, including PETSinc and the AIDS Benefit Foundation of South Carolina, where she served on the Board of Directors. Currently, Willingham is a doctoral candidate and graduate assistant at the University of South Carolina. She has a self-titled blog that focuses on mental health and relationships issues, and, since September, has contributed writing as Midlands Anchor’s Lifestyle & Entertainment Columnist.
In her new role, she will assist the CEO and Board Chair in management and publication of Midlands Anchor. One of her main responsibilities will be to assimilate regional events and promote the most prominent cultural and professional community happenings. She will also help produce some new feature products that will be revealed as a surprise announcement in the June 6th e-newsletter.
Willingham will provide key assistance in furthering Midlands Anchor’s mission of connecting engaged citizens through relevant stories. If you would like to reach out to her about an event or potential story, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
