Meet Midlands Anchor’s 2017 Summer Interns

Midlands Anchor is proud to host a cohort of four accomplished, driven interns for the summer of 2017.  Check out the biographies of our new team members!

 

 

Dara Khaalid is a senior Broadcast Journalism at the University of South Carolina, where she is minoring in African-American studies.  Her passion for activism and the needs of marginalized people in the community led her to the field of journalism.  She is the creator of the website thedishwithdara.com, which compiles fashion, beauty tips, advice, and poetry.

 

 

 

Anna King is a sophomore Broadcast Journalism  at the University of South Carolina. She currently works at USC’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications Building as the Director’s assistant. In her free time, she enjoys photography, videography and editing. She also enjoys spending time at sporting events, music festivals, fairs and any form of traveling with her friends and family. 

 

 

Katherine Arrata is a junior Broadcast Journalism major at the University of South Carolina. She enjoys volunteering with Girls on the Run of Columbia, participating in the USC Dance Marathon, and walking with her dog by the river.

 

 

 

Caroline Davenport is a Journalism major with a minor in Education at the University of South Carolina. Caroline is interested in telling the stories people are passionate about, and she hopes to work for NPR one day.
