The Main Street district has definitely bloomed over the last several years, with the success of Soda City Market, the growth of new restaurants like Main Street Public House and East Bay Deliincreased eco-friendly initiatives, and improved accommodations for the public.  More improvements are quickly arriving, including a boutique grocery store and an up-and-coming boutique hotel.  So what’s next for the Main Street District?

Neighborhood planners are leaving that up to the public.

The City Center Partnership has composed a nine-question anonymous survey to find out what citizens want to see happen in the Main Street District next.  The survey, which is mostly checkbox-format, is designed to be completed in three minutes or less.  To show their appreciation for your time and feedback, the City Center Partnership is offering gift certificates from Cantina 76, Uptown on Main, and Mast General Store to three lucky survey-takers.
Main Street has several events coming up. Some of the highlights:
  • 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, November 10: Columbia Museum of Art’s “Arts & Draughts.” Enjoy beer tastings, live musical performances, tasty food, and of course art!
  • The City of Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink, Main Street ICE, is returning for its sixth season at Boyd Plaza (corner of Main and Hampton streets).  Main Street ICE opens Thanksgiving Day, from 5 to 10 p.m., and will remain open until Monday, January 15, 2018.
  • Monday, November 27: 51st Annual Governors Carolighting at State House Grounds.  6 p.m.: Cookies and visit with Santa; 7 p.m.: Program begins.
