For four straight years, local SERVPRO franchises have come together to host golf classics for philanthropic efforts. The past three years’ golf tournaments have been held at Golden Hills Golf and Country Club in honor of the American Red Cross of Central South Carolina. Funds raised from the event will aid local families affected by disasters, a service provided by the American Red Cross along with the better known blood services and military assistance programs. In 2014 the Red Cross assisted 7,118 individuals affected by local disasters, many of those being single-family home fires.
In conjunction with the Golf Classic on September 8th, the local water and fire cleanup companies teamed up with Livingston Insurance, Gregory Electric, Celebrations and Sun Solutions to hold a Red, White and Black Gala at the Millstone at Adam’s Pond. Patrons enjoyed a silent auction, full dinner menu, drinks and entertainment by Reggie Sullivan Band. Adjutant General Robert Livingston was keynote to the event, educating the attendees on the important emergency response partnership between the American Red Cross and SC National Guard.
Altogether $12,000 was raised from the tournament and silent auction proceeds. Original hosts of the golf classic, including SERVPRO of Richland County, SERVPRO of Cayce/West Columbia and Lexington, and SERVPRO of the Dutch Fork, will be joining other franchises throughout the state to tee off for Red Cross disaster relief efforts in 2015. The spring Midlands tournament is scheduled for April 23rd at Golden Hills Golf and Country Club. More information and photos may be found on the event Facebook Page.
