Leadership Class Gives back to Local Camp

Leadership Lexington County Class of 2014 held the first of several work days at Camp Kinard in Batesburg Leesville on Saturday, October 25.  The LLC graduates built six fishing platforms for the camp’s two ponds near the Family Camping area and did painting and other cleaning projects.  A second work day is planned for November 15 where the class will construct a large pool-side gazebo and a ramp to the pool deck.

Camp Kinard is part of the South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers and is home to Camp Kemo, Camp Wonderhands as well as hosting various church groups and professional organizations year-round.  Campers here enjoy a variety of activities including fishing, swimming, a high ropes course and hiking trails which give children and adults a safe retreat.

Donations of supplies, financial support and volunteers are still needed for the remainder of the projects. How can you help?

Companies or community groups can pledge a dollar amount in financial support or the equivalent in products and services.  Needed supplies include:  lumber, nails, tarps, concrete and volunteer services.

Visit the LLC Class 2014 Fundraising site to make a donation or for more information contact Leigh Cheatham, leighcheatham@gmail.com.
