Law enforcement veteran joins Lexington District One

Stephen J. “Shaun” Spivey joins Safety and Emergency Services Director Chris Ellisor in the Lexington County School District One’s Operations Department as Safety and Emergency Services Coordinator.

A veteran law enforcement officer with 10 years of experience in the field, Spivey ranked as sergeant with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as a detective in LCSD’s West Region, which covers Batesburg-Leesville, Gilbert, Lexington, Red Bank and West Columbia.

Spivey joined LCSD in 2008 as a patrol deputy, after working as a senior loan officer for Century Financial Services in Lexington (2004–2008) and as a State Farm Insurance agent in West Columbia (1999–2003).

LCSD promoted Spivey to property crimes detective in LCSD’s North Region in 2010. The North Region covers Chapin, Irmo, Lexington and West Columbia.

In 2011, he served as major crimes detective for Lexington County until his promotion to detective sergeant in 2015.

Spivey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in risk management, finance, marketing and insurance, from the University of South Carolina.
