Kids’ Chance of SC to celebrate $900K in statewide scholarships & 23 years of giving on Feb. 20

Jan. 20, 2016 (COLUMBIA, S.C.) – Kids’ Chance of South Carolina, a statewide nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to the children of injured workers in S.C., will commemorate 23 years of giving at the “Denim and Diamonds Gala” on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at the Marriott in downtown Columbia, S.C. Tickets to the Denim and Diamonds Gala are $125, available at https://bidr.co/events/denimanddiamonds.

Founded in 1993 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by the S.C. Worker’s Compensation Educational Association, Kids’ Chance of South Carolina, Inc. has awarded more than $900,000 in scholarships to the children of injured workers in S.C. Dependents of anyone injured while working in the state of South Carolina may apply for scholarships from the charity.

“This is our third year hosting this gala, and we’re excited to be celebrating our 23rd year of providing scholarships to the dependents of injured workers in our state,” says Angie Kohl, executive director of Kids’ Chance of South Carolina. “The Denim and Diamonds Gala is one of several fundraisers we host annually across the state. It’s a great evening out as well as the perfect way to show our donors how grateful we are for their support.”

During a private cocktail hour, attendees will be able to meet one of the state’s favorite sports icons, Cocky, then enjoy a silent auction as well as a seated, plated dinner with an open bar and an awards presentation featuring guest speaker Casey Manning, S.C. Fifth Judicial Circuit Judge. Guests will also enjoy top hits from every genre, provided by the Summer Daze Band. Cocktail attire or guests’ favorite boots and denim ensembles are suggested.

“Our recipients are so thankful for these scholarships,” notes Kohl. “Most of these students would otherwise never have a chance at attaining a higher education degree. We want our supporters to know that they are making an enormous difference in the lives of these children and their families.”

Kids’ Chance of South Carolina is one of many “Kids’ Chance” organizations nationwide. Each organization is independent from the other, sharing only the name and mission of helping children of injured workers reach their educational goals.

The silent auction is already open for online bidding and will close at 9 p.m. on the evening of the gala. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with open bar in the atrium until 7 p.m., when a seated dinner and awards presentation will commence in the Carolina Ballroom.
