Jewish food extravaganza set for Sunday; open to all

The holiday season is not quite here, but you can get the holiday eating started early with a smorgasbord of traditional Jewish foods and baked goods this weekend.

Beth Shalom Synagogue (5827 N. Trenholm Rd. in Columbia) will host Bubbie’s Brisket and Bakery Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. All are invited to come and learn about the making of the delicacies, and of course sample them (all food purchases a la carte).

“Bubbie” is a traditional Jewish term for a grandmother, and any grandmother would be proud of the spread that will be available Sunday. The menu includes brisket, corned beef sandwiches, stuffed cabbage, matzah ball soup, sweet and sour meatballs, falafel, noodle kugel, Israeli salad, potato knish, tzimmes, kasha varnishkes, baba ganoush, challah, rugalach, madel bread, cakes, and much more.

More information on the event is available at the synagogue’s website.
