The JDRF Palmetto Chapter hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 25 in honor of their new office space at 1122 Lady St.
The celebration featured enthusiastic speakers from the staff, along with the presentation of various awards for accomplishments within the JDRF community.
“It is my goal and my passion that we put an end to Type I Diabetes,” said Beth McCrary, Development Coordinator as she spoke with excitement about the new building and future JDRF events.
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Their mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.
The chapter holds many fundraising events in Columbia throughout the year. Their upcoming event, the JDRF Hope Gala, is on Saturday, March 24 at Spirit Communications Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies. This year more than 300 people are expected to attend, and the proceeds go towards funding research to cure, prevent and treat T1D.
Other opportunities to get involved are the annual One Walk at Spirit Communications Park on Nov 10 and the Ride to Cure program.
