Jasper Project hosts launch party, variety show for 33rd issue

In keeping with The Jasper Project’s mission to promote collaboration and cross-pollination within arts disciplines, the organization will present its first ever Variety Show on Friday, October 13, to celebrate the release of the fall 2017 issue of Jasper Magazine.

The host for the evening will be musical-theatre artist, and finalist for Jasper Artist of the Year in Theatre, Mandy Applegate Bloom. Bloom will welcome a number of artists to the stage in this talk-show style event, many of whom will also perform.

Doors for the event, held at Tapp’s Arts Center at Main and Blanding Streets, open at 6 p.m., during which the audience is invited to visit with literary artists Ed Madden and Tim Conroy, who will be on hand to sign and sell their newest books, and listen to a compilation of music from 2017 JAY finalists in music Fat Rat daCzar, Tyler Matthews, and Those Lavender Whales.

The program will start at 7 p.m. with interviews and entertainment from cover artist Dogon Krigga, designer Andrew Stinson, filmmaker Wade Sellers who will preview the 2nd Act Film Festival and introduce the filmmakers, Michael Krajewski, Mark Rapp, Bohumila Augustinova and the Columbia YarnbombersKayla Cahill and the Mothers Improv and Sketch Troupe, and more.
