The Humane Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which strives to end the overpopulation of unwanted animals by offering low-cost spay and neuter surgeries and investigates animal cruelty and neglect cases, announces that See Spot Run, the organization¹s fifth annual 5K run/walk, will take place Saturday, May 17. See Spot Run will also offer a 1K-9 fun walk. Pet owners are encouraged to bring their pets on leashes with them to run or walk.
This family and pet-friendly run and walk starts from Earlewood Park in Columbia (corner of Parkside and Earlewood Drives).
– 5K Run/Walk: 7:30 a.m. start time
– 1K-9 Fun Walk: 9 a.m. start time
See Spot Run offers runners and walkers disposable timing chips and gender-specific, moisture-wicking technical t-shirts for all runners who register in advance of the race. This year¹s race will also feature separate starting corrals for runners, runners with dogs, walkers and walkers with dogs. Strollers are allowed, and cash prizes and age group awards are offered for 5K racers.
Registration is available at www.strictlyrunning.com and is $35 for the 5K and $20 for the 1K-9 walk if you register before May 16. After that date, the registration fee increases to $40/$25. On race day, registration will open at 6:30 a.m. and will cost $40/$25.
