Hollywood Stars Including Helen Mirren, Dominic West Star in HT@MTC’s National Theatre Live On Screen Series

Escape to the Theatre with Screenings of World-Class Productions Throughout Season Five

Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College will beam the stars of the London stage onto its silver screen this year for a second, season-long series of the National Theatre Live On Screen productions. The first screening of the series, Jane Eyre, will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

Says Harbison Theatre at MTC Executive Director Katie Fox, “The National Theatre Live On Screen helps us fill a popular audience request: our neighbors want more professional theatre! As a mid-sized presenting arts center, it’s very hard to find professional touring theatrical productions that fit on our stage and meet our expectation of artistic quality. While we’re excited when we do find a live production that meets our audience’s expectations – such as this season’s upcoming “Wiesenthal,” we’re thrilled to offer National Theatre Live On Screen events to supplement live programming. NTL On Screen productions feature world class directors, performers, and designers – and our local audience sees the show for, literally, thousands of dollars less than it would cost to travel to London!”

National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project launched seven years ago that has broadcast over 20 productions from the Royal National Theatre in London, England and from other associated locations to more than 3.5 million people across the world. Each production is performed in front of a live audience with multiple cameras positioned throughout the auditorium, and live edited to ensure that all viewers of the screening have “the best seat in the house,” while not losing out on the unpredictability of live performance.
