Sunday’s family-friendly event will raise funds to repair school building damaged in October flood.
(Columbia, SC) Harmony School will hold its first-ever Fill Harmony with Love Spring Festival on Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on the school’s grounds at 3737 Covenant Road, Columbia, SC 29204. The family-friendly event will kick off a larger campaign designed to raise the funds needed to repair the school building damaged during the October 4, 2015 flood.
The event will feature local food vendors, face painting and field day activities for families to enjoy, as well as provide attendees an opportunity to learn more about the school’s flood recovery plans. Local band Pharaohs in Space and drumming group Next Door Drummers will perform.
The main Harmony School building and playground were damaged during the recent historic flood that affected many areas in Columbia and Forest Acres. While the playground has been repaired, the school building requires extensive renovations. Since the flood, classes have been moved to portable buildings on the campus.
“We’re looking forward to this fun event celebrating the school and our community, while also raising awareness about the plans to repair our building,” said Debbie Holmes, Harmony School director. “This has been a tough time for Harmony, but it has truly brought out the best in our staff, families and students. We look forward to the next phase of Harmony School in our stronger, better building.”
