The Grand brings delicious eats, fun atmosphere to Main Street

As the revitalization of Columbia’s Main Street District progresses, more restaurants and shops are popping up as the district transforms into a lively, family-friendly environment. Located on the 1600 block of Main Street, The Grand is a boutique bowling alley that also serves up some delicious cocktails and menu items that are likely very different than any bowling alley food you’ve had in the past.

Low Country Shrimp & Grits

After opening in November 2017, The Grand has brought the spirit of entertainment back to Main Street by providing a place where family and friends can meet for fun and relaxation. The unique boutique bowling alley offers a wide range of food, including great appetizers such as the cheddar herb biscuits, heaven-in-your-mouth entrées such as the low country shrimp and grits and Louisville ribs, and delectable sides like mac & cheese and collard greens.

“All of our produce comes from local grown farms and everything is made special in house,” explained Chef Dom Tidwell.  Tidwell stated everything on the menu was made exclusively for The Grand and would not be found anywhere else.

A standout menu item is the low country shrimp and grits, a dish compiled with fresh local yellow grits, sautéed shrimp and tasso gravy topped with bits of bacon, grilled corn, and chives. Biting into this delicious meal, you’re taken on an adventure through southern greatness as every bite melts inside the mouth.

Not to be outdone, the Louisville ribs also will make mouths water. As the meat falls right off the bone, these baby back ribs are covered in a sweet bourbon barbecue sauce, served with two flavorful sides of mac and cheese.  On the side are delectable collard greens that have such a plentiful amount of sweet and tangy tastes – you’ll be surprised to learn you’re actually eating a vegan side dish.

The unique architectural design of the building allows for a spectacular viewing of the seven bowling lanes, great for dining and entertainment. The Grand offers a secluded environment for those who enjoy drinking from local breweries with a digital twist in the wrist. Through a special self-serve beverage dispense technology known as IPOURIT, the customer is given a wristband that allows you to pour your own drinks while enjoying numerous games and television in a lounging area.

As the new month rolls in, The Grand has many special events lined up for the month of March including a March Madness bracket and corn hole challenge, for a chance to win $5,000 in both special events. The restaurant also offers trivia night every Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 pm and 9:00-11:00 pm.

“The Grand is the destination for fun and entertainment,” said Director of Marketing and Sales, Marissa DeCooa.  DeCooa says that everyday is a new day for The Grand as it serves daily specials, courtesy of the chefs.

From the moment of entry to exit, it can be seen throughout the restaurant that all employees are driven by a strong priority in customer service, whether you’re being greeted by the host/hostess or any waiter/waitress and bartender.  Whether you’re here to eat a good meal, play games or just sit and relax with friends, you’re guaranteed to have a grand time that will make you want to come back.  For beer lovers, foodies, and game enthusiasts alike, The Grand offers an incredible downtown atmosphere close to other mainstays like the Nickelodeon.  For more information, visit http://www.thegrandonmain.com/.
