Gilbert student-athletes score academic goals

GILBERT — The Gilbert Community Club honored two Gilbert High School seniors with their highest award.

On Thursday, March 2, Rachel Alexandra Kuntz and Jacob Bradley Rye received the Gilbert Community Club Scholar Athlete award. The local group recognizes one male and one female athlete who had the highest academic scores while participating in at least two sports during their high school career.

A three-sport athlete, Kuntz played varsity volleyball, varsity basketball and varsity softball. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina and pursue a degree in exercise science.

A member of both the varsity football and baseball teams, Rye earned an athletic scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina Aiken, playing baseball for the Pacers.
