Get Teens Writing This Summer with Local Poetry Series

Columbia, SC– Get ready to reveal your unique flair and style of writing at Richland Library this summer. We are teaming with The Watering Hole, a group that is dedicated to the art of the written and spoken word, to host the inaugural Poetry and Me Teen Series.

Recommended for ages 11 to 15, the free series is teaching teens to express themselves through poetry by reading, writing, editing and reviewing contemporary works.

Registration is not required, so be sure to join us for the following events:

  • 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., June 24 at Sandhills
  • 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., July 8 at Eastover
  • 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., July 22 at Main

The series is set to culminate on August 8 with a presentation of awards and a mini poetry slam, where participants will recite their works. There is also going to be a preview of the chapbook, containing the teens’ poetry, that will be submitted to Library Journal’s SELF-e and The Watering Hole Poetry Publishing.
