On Thursday, April 5, 2018, the Five Points Foundation awarded $49,000 to over 30 charities and non-profit organizations in the Midlands from revenue generated from the 36th Annual St. Pat’s in Five Points.

The 2018 recipients include: Alpha Chapter 14631 Beta Sigma Phi, Ancient Order of Hibernians, AUSA, Boy Scout Troop 330, Carolina Wrecking Balls, City Year Columbia, Columbia Opportunity Resource, Columbia Rugby, Columbia Starlings Volleyball, Curing Kids Cancer, Double Dutch Forces, Dreher Band Booster Club, First Nazareth Baptist Church, First Nazareth Culinary Institute, Gospel Music Workshop of America Midlands Chapter, Happy Wheels, HIV Aids Council, Homeless Helping Homeless, Homeless No More, Hoopology, Impact Carolina, Junior Women’s Club, Military Vehicle Collectors of South Carolina, Moving Youth Forward, Palmetto Starlings Volleyball, Quad Squad, Seed Project, Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands, Sierra Club, South Carolina Equality, Sustainable Midlands, Venture Crew 312 and Westminster Youth Group.

Here are some numbers at a glance about the festival: There were approximately 41,000 patrons inside the gates. There were approximately 2,200 racers for the Get to the Green 15K / 10K / 5K / 1-Mile Family Fun Run. There were 66 entries in the St. Pat’s Parade. There were over 40 local food, craft, and civic vendors. 1.24 tons of recyclables were collected and there were just over 530 volunteers.

St. Pat’s in Five Points is one of Columbia’s signature events. The festival creates a $6 million economic impact on the City of Columbia each year.  The Five Points Association is able to function productively and actively through the year due to the net proceeds of the event.  Funds are used for beautification projects, security cameras, marketing and promotions and organizing and hosting free events for the community.
