Five Points and the Autism Academy of SC Celebrate National Autism Awareness Month

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Five Points Association and the Autism Academy of South Carolina have teamed up again to honor autism awareness. For the third year, friends and family of the Five Points community, as well as staff, students, and friends of the Autism Academy will come together to dye the Five Points Fountain blue. Dying the fountain blue helps not only to raise awareness and “shine a light” onto autism to the entire community, but also to help celebrate Autism Awareness Day.

The Autism Academy of SC will be holding events throughout the month of April, in addition to World Autism Day, to include: The Blue Bash & Dash (on April 9), The Autism Academy of SC Day at the Columbia Fireflies game (on April 18), and a Walk to the State House for Autism Awareness (on April 18-22).

More than 60 businesses across the Midlands will offer specials and events this Saturday, April 2, for World Autism Day. Among those businesses are several in Five Points, to include:

  • 2G’s Clothing – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Andy’s Deli – employees will wear blue April 1, donation to Autism Academy of South Carolina, will “Light it up Blue”
  • Bluetile Skate Shop -will “Light it up Blue”
  • Cellar on Greene – donation to Autism Academy of SC
  • Creech and Creed Real Estate Services – employees will wear blue April 1, and decorate the office blue
  • Delaney’s Music Pub – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Drip Coffee – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Eddie’s Calzones – employees will wear blue April 2
  • Five Points Tobacco – offering 10% off premium cigars and Hookah products for guests wearing blue in honor of autism awareness, will also “Light it up Blue”
  • Gentleman’s Closet – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Good for the Sole Shoes – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Grilled Teriyaki – restaurant will “Light it up Blue,” employees will wear blue April 2 and decorate the restaurant
  • Harper’s Restaurant – offering “Blue Light Special Menu” with $1.00 of each brunch or dinner item purchased going to the Autism Academy of SC, offering 10% off the entire bill on April 2 for guests wearing blue in honor of autism awareness
  • iTech Connections – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Men’s Wearhouse – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Mr. Friendly’s New Southern Cafe – donation to Autism Academy of SC
  • Natural Vibrations – in-kind donation to Autism Academy of SC
  • Papa Jazz Record Shoppe – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Pawley’s Front Porch – employees will wear blue on April 2
  • Pecknel Music – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Petal – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Pita Pit – offering $1.00 off any pita on April 2 for guests wearing blue in honor of autism awareness, employees will also wear blue on April 2
  • Publico Kitchen & Tap – offering 20% off any food item between 11am-1pm on April 2 for guests wearing blue in honor of autism awareness, employees will also wear blue on April 2
  • Revente – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Scoopy Doo – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Sid & Nancy – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Southern Belly BBQ – will “Light it up Blue”
  • STEEL GARDEN – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Tripp’s Fine Cleaners – will “Light it up Blue”
  • Vestique – mannequins will wear blue
