Feed an Officer Campaign Shows Community Appreciation on Officer Greg Alia Day

To show appreciation for law enforcement officers, Heroes In Blue’s second annual Feed An Officer Campaign partnered with 34 local restaurants to feed lunch to 431 on-duty officers at 28 police stations throughout Richland and Lexington Counties, as well as distribute over $7,700 in gift certificates to off-duty officers.

From November 28 to December 11, community members donated money at participating restaurants to go towards the Feed An Officer Campaign. Those donations were then distributed by 40 volunteers as lunches and gift certificates to law enforcement officers on December 14, Officer Greg Alia Day in the City of Forest Acres and Richland County. With this year’s generous donations, the Campaign was able to serve 200 more officers and 14 more police stations than last year.

Kent Krieg, Feed An Officer Campaign Coordinator, said “This year’s successful campaign really demonstrates the community’s appreciation and support for our local law enforcement. From the restaurants’ excitement to participate to the community’s enthusiasm to donate, this campaign was full of love and support. Officer Greg Alia was a close friend and amazing person, and this is such a wonderful way to honor his legacy.”
