Explore the Vista on a Happy Hour History Tour this May

COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 21, 2014)— Enjoy a Capital City cocktail with a twist as Historic Columbia’s Happy Hour History Tour series returns to the Congaree Vista every Friday in May.

The guided tours meet in the Publix parking lot on Gervais Street and explore the history and architecture of this residential, light industrial, mercantile and transportation district. Tours cost $20 for Historic Columbia members and $25 for the general public, and admission includes cocktails at Saki Tumi and appetizers along the way.

Comprising almost 800 acres, the Congaree Vista features a mixture of historically significant buildings with architecturally sympathetic re-development and infill projects. Today’s Vista is the product of considerable capital investment beginning in the 1970s and is home to loft, apartment and townhouse residences, restaurants and bars, specialty shops and offices. Officially referred to as the West Gervais Street Historic District, the Congaree Vista is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is protected as an architectural conservation district by the City of Columbia.

For more information or to reserve a spot on a tour, please call 803.252.1770 ext. 23, email reservations@historiccolumbia.org or visit historiccolumbia.org.
