Everyone fits in at A Misfit Christmas play

Christmas is full of traditions that vary among families. This year, consider embracing a new or different tradition watching an original play at Village Square Theatre in Lexington. A Misfit Christmas: An Original Christmas Variety Show has four opportunities for you and your guests to get in some laughter and a different take on traditional Christmas plays. The play’s performances begin Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with three other performances throughout the weekend.

What’s to be expected with this original production? The script is composed by actor and Columbia native David LaTorre with popular songs, dances, skits and short scenes. This is a family-friendly variety show performed by college students at Anderson University. LaTorre formed an acting troupe called The Misfit Players while at Anderson University. The actors are musical theater students and in this Christmas variety show, their performance will be set to Christmas music.

The Misfits are LaTorre, Drew Kenyon, DeBryant Johnson, Rebecca Rene Kelley and Alexis Adair Harder. They have performed in Anderson, Augusta, Ga. and are looking forward to Lexington. Tickets are $10 for students and kids and $12 for adults and can be purchased at www.villagesquaretheatre.com or at the box office at 105 Caughman Road. Call the Box Office at 803-359-1436 4-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Performances are scheduled as follows: 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16; 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 17; and 3 p.m., Dec. 18.
