EdVenture Kicks Off Summertime Saturdays Event Series

School is out, but the fun is in full swing at EdVenture, as the children’s museum hosts new fun-filled Summertime Saturdays, special themed event days from June 4th – August 13th.

“While EdVenture is a great place to visit everyday, we wanted families with children to be able to count on something extra special every Saturday. So no matter what your child’s interest, families can enjoy unique happenings every weekend the entire summer,” said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO of EdVenture.

A list of all Summertime Saturdays events follows.

Saturday, June 4, Baby Animal Day: Cuddle up with rescued and adoptable puppies and kittens from Pets, Inc. (10-2 PM), and meet baby animals from the Lil’ Buddies Learning Zoo (10-2 PM). Before heading home, children can take a ride on a precious pony (11-4 PM) and leave with an animal-themed art project!

Saturday, June 11, Bubble Balooza: Explore the brilliance of bubbles! Play with and discover different sizes and shapes of bubbles at stations throughout the museum — even put yourself inside of a bubble! Every child will leave with their own bubbles!

Saturday, June 18, Super Hero Day: Who’s your favorite super hero? Celebrate both cartoon and real life heroes in our community who make a difference every day.

Saturday, June 25, Car Day: Earn your EdVenture driver’s license at Car Day 2016! Sit in an antique car, learn about motors and gears, and most importantly, learn about how to ride safely in a car or cross a busy street. Enjoy car crafts, toy car races, and creative car fun!

Saturday, July 2, Star Spangled Day: Celebrate the 240th birthday of the USA! Indulge in a Red, White, and Blue birthday cake, learn patriotic songs, listen in on Independence Day story times, learn the science behind fireworks, and join in a parade in the museum led by none other than Uncle Sam!

Saturday, July 9, Monster Day: Join EdVenture’s science lab team for a day of “Monster” science! Make monster toothpaste and monster gak, and build your own monster’s lair and watch it ooze! And before you leave, don’t miss out on a healthy milk and cookie snack with your favorite cookie-eating monster provided by EdVenture’s Carousel Cafe!

Saturday, July 16, Pirate and Princess Day: Climb aboard EdVenture’s own pirate ship, bounce away to magical kingdoms in a moon bounce castle; listen to and write your own fairy tale, and participate in an enchanted day of craft projects and mystifying science activities fit for any princess or shipmate!

Saturday, July 23, Christmas in July: Ho, ho, ho! Embrace the holiday spirit 5 months early at EdVenture! Meet with Santa and his elves, decorate holiday cookies, and enjoy holiday-themed art and science projects as a family. While decking the halls and beating the heat, learn about all of EdVenture’s Holiday 2016 activities and events!

Saturday, July 30, Moon Bounce Mania: Bounce over to EdVenture to have some fun in multiple new EdVenture bounce houses! Jump away from ghosts in an spooky Haunted House bouncer, celebrate your levitation in a giant Birthday Cake bouncer, explore an Enchanted Castle bouncer, blast off in a USA Rocket Ship, and begin to bounce back into the swing of school in EdVenture’s super School Bus bounce house!

Saturday, August 6, EdLympics 2016: Calling all EdLympians! Show your strength and athletic ability during an exciting day of high jumps, long jumps, archery, squirt gun shooting, javelin noodle throws, and more! Learn about different participating countries during our own EdLympics Opening Ceremonies, and see the EdLympics torch shine brightly in front of EDDIE!

Saturday, August 13, Dragon Day: Meet your favorite friendly dragon characters, read about dragons in a special story time, enjoy dragon and fairytale-themed craft and science projects, and learn about the significance of dragons in different cultures, including a live Chinese New Year dragon dance performance!
