Countdown to 2017 Richland Library Summer Learning Challenge

Columbia, SC– As the school year comes to an end and the unofficial start to summer arrives, Richland Library is encouraging children, teens and adults to keep their minds and bodies active. From June 1 – August 20, get rewarded for what you are learning, creating and sharing during the 2017 Richland Library Summer Learning Challenge.

Your mission is to record a learning moment in your Summer Learning Challenge guidebook or online at richlandlibrary.com/summer for:

  • every 30 minutes that you read
  • every library program that you attend

Once you have recorded 30 learning moments, you can claim a prize at any Richland Library location. Prizes vary from coloring pencils and a beach ball to a cell phone stand and Columbia Fireflies baseball tickets. In addition, one winner at each library location is going to receive the grand prize – a $25 Visa gift card.

There are more than 1,000 programs to choose from this summer, including a number that are themed around space exploration and the much-anticipated, total solar eclipse.

More than 21,000 people took part in the 2016 Richland Library Summer Learning Challenge with around 20% of participants completing it.

Good luck, and be sure to share pictures and videos of your progress on social media, using #ilearnbecause. We can’t wait to see you at the finish line!
