Costco Sets Date for Columbia Opening

Wholesale shoppers in the Midlands will soon have another option. The long-awaited Costco warehouse club will open its doors to the public at 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 10 at 507 Piney Grove Road, near the intersection of Piney Grove and I-26.

A spokesman for the company had refused to give an exact opening date earlier this year, but the company on Friday confirmed August 10 as the target for the grand opening of the 53,000-square-foot store. Several previous attempts to bring Costco to Columbia had failed, leaving fans of the store to travel to Augusta, Charleston, or Greenville.

Costco has opened a temporary headquarters at Columbiana Station, 1270-C2 Bower Parkway, and invited the public to sign up for memberships early. Those signing up at the temporary location, open 10-5 each weekday, will have their membership extended to August 31, 2017.

More information on Costco and its membership options is available here.
