CMA Winter Workshops Offer Families an Artistic Holiday Break

Two-day programs let kids show their creative side in a fun environment

Columbia, SC – The Columbia Museum of Art is offering two Winter Workshops on Monday and Tuesday, December 21 and 22, to engage students’ in hands-on learning and to spark creativity. This popular, annual series provides kids ages 4-12 with fun, thematically focused art classes and allows families to take care of holiday preparations. The 2015 CMA Winter Workshops are:

 

It’s an ART, ART, WORLD!

Ages 4-7 | Monday and Tuesday, December 21 and 22 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

$100 / $80 for family membership and above

This two-day workshop uses the inspiring art in the galleries, including work by Georgia O’Keeffe, to engage the creative side of your young artist.  Following the gallery time, participants work in the CMA studios to create several of their very own masterpieces. Please bring a brown bag lunch each day.

 

What’s Your Story?

Ages 8-12 l Monday and Tuesday, December 21 and 22 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

$100 / $80 for family membership and above

Students learn to read the clues in artwork when they explore Georgia O’Keeffe: Her Carolina Story and the museum’s collection to discover the stories and secrets behind some of the art. In the CMA studios, participants use their newly gained knowledge to create their own artwork with hidden and not-so-hidden clues that tell their own story. Please bring a brown bag lunch each day.
