Bluegrass, Bidding, and BBQ with Historic Columbia set for this Thursday

Historic Columbia’s fundraising arm for young professionals, known as “The Palladium Society,” is preparing the lawn of the Robert Mills House for it’s  Bluegrass, Bidding & BBQ fundraiser presented by Jaguar Land Rover Columbia. This annual event includes live music, delicious barbecue, specialty drinks, and an assortment of silent auction items. The event will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, located at 1616 Blanding Street in downtown Columbia.

“There is something for everyone to enjoy at this event, including live bluegrass music, unique silent auction items and local barbecue,” said Carroll Heyward, president of The Palladium Society board. “And the best part is that 100 percent of the proceeds support Historic Columbia. Last year, this event raised more than $15,000, which benefited the organization’s educational programs.”

The Mustache Brothers will headline the evening with bluegrass classics and modern favorites. Hailing from Columbia, the Mustache Brothers have developed a widely respected following and have played for various audiences across South Carolina.

The silent auction will feature a variety of items, including destination packages to historic cities across the Southeast, experiential packages to explore local cultural sites, behind-the-scenes tours of Columbia’s hot spots, gift cards to restaurants, boutiques, gyms and much more.

Delicious barbecue, fixings and other food varieties, including a cookie bar, will be catered by Savvy Foods, a local caterer focusing on creative ways to share barbecue, southern cuisine and craft sauces. Beverages include a signature cocktail prepared by Josh Streetman of Motor Supply Company Bistro, in addition to beer and wine.

Ticket prices are $25 for TPS members, $35 for Historic Columbia members and $45 for the general public. Tickets are $50 at the door. Become a TPS member and save half off of the door prices. Food and beverages are included with ticket purchase. All proceeds will support Historic Columbia. Visit historiccolumbia.org/bbq for more information and to purchase tickets.
