South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) Communications Manager Becky Bean was selected to the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) third class of 35 under 35. She is one of 35 school and education public relations professionals under the age of 35 who are being recognized as among the nation’s best communicators.
All 35 under 35 recipients will be honored during the NSPRA national conference in San Antonio, TX in July 2017 and will be featured throughout the year in NSPRA publications.
The 35 under 35 program was started in 2012 to recognize young professional members who are making a difference for their school districts or education-related employers. Awardees are nominated by current NSPRA members and chosen for this honor for demonstrating excellence and leadership early in their public relations careers.
NSPRA Executive Director Rich Bagin, APR, noted, “It is exciting to see these young professionals step up to meet the challenges of our school communication profession. They continue to grow and also have much to share with all NSPRA members.”
Bean joined SCSBA as communications manager in January 2016, where she oversees overall communications and marketing for the association’s services and programs and promotes the importance of school boards to the public. She previously worked as the communications director for Lexington County School District One and director of marketing and public relations at the University of South Carolina Sumter.
Bean received a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in graphic design and business from Anderson University. She is a member of the National School Public Relations Association and serves as the Vice President for the South Carolina chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SC/NSPRA.)
Bean resides in Camden with her husband, Ryan, and children, Bradley and Macy.
