Adger Solar To Build South Carolina’s Largest Solar Farm in Jasper County

Adger Solar recently announced its first two solar generating projects in Jasper County, S.C., as part of a transaction with Dominion (NYSE: D).  A 71.4 megawatt solar farm will be S.C.’s largest and a companion 10 megawatt array are both expected to enter service in 2017 through power purchase agreements (PPA) with South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G). The Jasper projects were recently acquired by Dominion.

“The South Carolina Clean Energy Business Alliance (SCCEBA) is proud to have Adger Solar as a member,” said Patty Pierce, Executive Director of SCCEBA.  “Adger Solar is taking solar farm development to the next level in our state especially with its selling renewable energy credits to help other clean energy industries meet their corporate sustainability goals.”

The 71.4 MW facility, now known as the ‘Solvay Energy Center – Jasper County, S.C.’ will occupy a nearly 900-acre site that will remain owned by Adger Solar and leased to Dominion.” Solvay, an international chemicals and advanced materials company with U.S. sites, among others, will purchase the associated renewable energy credits produced by this facility.

“Jasper County is showing South Carolina that large-scale solar can be built and sustained in all 46 counties across the Palmetto State,” said Bill Moore, principal of Adger Solar. “Adger Solar has been working in South Carolina since 2014 and we are actively pursuing multiple additional projects throughout the State. These projects would provide both tax revenue and new jobs to local communities as well as clean power to the citizens and companies of this state. We are pleased to be part of the emerging solar energy industry during this exciting time in South Carolina.”

“This is a big step for solar in South Carolina and a natural progression in the growth of renewable energy in our state.  We are honored to have Adger Solar as one of our corporate advisors who is a leader on this exciting project,” said Todd Delello, SCCEBA Board Chairman.
