Columbia, S.C. (January 23, 2017) – Thanks to local health care provider Absolute Total Care, United Way’s free children’s dental clinic for the uninsured, WellPartners, recently received a much needed facelift to the waiting room at its location inside the Richland County Health Department.
Upgrades include a mural in the waiting room, 16 new chairs, a television, activity tables, books and a bookshelf as well as dental goody bags co-branded and filled with toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss and appointment cards.
Last February, United Way opened a new 5,200 square foot adult dental and eye care clinic on the third floor of the Richland County Health Department with support from the county, Lexington Medical Center and Palmetto Health. The expansion left the fourth floor children’s dental clinic location, which once served both adults and children, with some much needed improvements.
“We want the clients we serve at WellPartners to receive the same quality experience and health care that they would receive if they were seeing a for-profit dentist,” said United Way President and CEO Mac Bennett. “We are thankful to our partners at Absolute Total Care for seeing the value in investing in this important community resource.”
Since January 2016, WellPartners has provided dental services to more than 872 children, an in-kind treatment value of more than $338,578.
“We are proud to partner with the United Way to provide a welcoming space for children receiving dental services at the WellPartners dental clinic,” said Paul Accardi, President and CEO of Absolute Total Care. “This partnership embodies our commitment to local communities and the members we serve.”
